black bearNorth Bay Police are advising people to be Bear Wise after several reports of bears on the Education Centre trails on Tuesday.

Meantime, another report of a mother bear and cubs in the Laurentian Escarpment Conservation Area.

This time, the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority says the encounter resulted in the bear bluff charging the man.

Officials say a man was running along the Hydro Line when he surprised the bears.

That’s when the mother bear snorted and bluff charged him, coming within 8 ft of him before stopping and banging her front paws on the trail.

Signage has been posted to let people know about the bear sighting.
