schoolThe local results are in involving grade 10 literacy testing.

Three of the four local school boards saw better results this year than last.

At the Near North Board, 70 per cent of students who wrote the test for the first time were successful.

That’s down from 73 per cent last year. Overall, the board says results have remained relatively consistent over the past four years.

Meantime, the figure for first-time eligible students being successful is 82 percent at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic Board.

That’s up from 79 percent last year.

It’s also right on the provincial average for English schools.

The provincial-average for French schools was 88 percent and both local French boards were below that mark.

However, they were both one per cent better than their individual board scores last year with 85 percent at Le C.S. catholique Franco-Nord and 76 percent at Le C.S. public du Nord-Est de L’Ontario.
