Burning control bylaw on the council committee agenda

Only one item on the agenda for tonight’s committee meeting of council.

It involves the burning control bylaw.

According to a report from the Fire Chief, the most significant change means that the City would have two Fire Management Areas — one in areas serviced by city water services called the “Settlement Area”, while the other is the “Rural Area.”

Recreational open fires would be permitted in both with a permit while non-recreational fires would be allowed in the rural area, again with a permit.
