Council streaming Council is using different incentives as a way to promote the Airport Industrial Park to new businesses.

There is a Municipal Fee Rebate Program which provides refunds for permits required to develop a property at the park, as well as a Tax Increment-Based Grant Program.

Mayor Al McDonald says this falls under the Airport Industrial Community Improvement Plan which currently has just over $345,000 of funding. McDonald says there’s a chance they could grow that pot to $1.5-million if they get the other levels of government to match the $500,000 North Bay is putting in with their 2016 budget.

However, he says the program is not just a way to bring in new businesses to North Bay.

He says it’s just as important for local businesses to tap into the program so they can expand and retain jobs. McDonald says 50 jobs have been retained in the city through the use of this program.
