St-CeciliaEarlier this month, The Foo Fighters’ website was replaced by a countdown clock, and later a background picture and some music. The band also posted a cryptic message or two. The countdown clock was to expire at midnight on November 22. Fans speculated that a big announcement was coming, maybe a new “Sonic Highways” TV series and/or new album. Perhaps the band was ready to announce another North American tour, or maybe Dave Grohl was getting his famous leg cast removed.
A DJ from Washington claimed to have solved the mystery by figuring out that the background picture was a hotel in Austin Texas, and learning that the band had recently visited a studio there to record a few tracks. Looks like he was onto something. The Foo Fighters have just announced the arrival of a five-song EP called “St Cecilia”. The EP is available for free at their website. It was originally intended to be a “Thank you” to fans but will now also serve as a chance tor raise awareness and funds for victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris.
The EP can be downloaded HERE. You can also read a letter of explanation from Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl and make a donation to the victims of the Paris attacks.
