Powassan Voodoos_210It’s a busy weekend of local hockey, volleyball and basketball.

A variety of Canadore and Nipissing teams are in action along with the Powassan Voodoos.

In the NOJHL, Powassan plays three games in four days.

The Voodoos visit Kirkland Lake Friday night, travel to Chelmsford for a game against Rayside Balfour on Sunday before entertaining French River on Monday night at the Powassan Sportsplex.

 

Canadore volleyballThe Canadore Panthers women’s volleyball team is undefeated at home in their last four games.

They look to continue that streak when they host George Brown Saturday at 1 pm.

Canadore is tied with Durham for 1st place in the East Division with a 13-1 record.

The Canadore men also play George Brown College Saturday at 3pm.

In OCAA basketball the Canadore Panthers host St. Lawrence College Friday night at 7pm at the Education Centre Gym.

The last time these two teams met, the Panthers lost 74-56.

Canadore is also home to Loyalist College Saturday at 6pm. Loyalist won a close battle, 89-83, the last time they played each other.

 

NU lakersSix varsity teams at Nipissing are also in action this weekend.

Both Nipissing basketball teams have home court advantage for their games against Laurier Friday and Waterloo on Saturday.

The women play at 6 pm, the men at 8 pm.

Meantime, the Nipissing men’s hockey team has a pair of games at Memorial Gardens this weekend.

They play UOIT Friday night at 7 pm then Queens on Saturday night at 7pm.

In women’s hockey, the Lakers visit Windsor Friday night, then London the next night for a match-up with Western.

The Nipissing volleyball teams are on the road to Kingston to play RMC on Friday then Queen’s on Saturday.
