A snapshot of northern immigration

Low immigration numbers across northern Ontario is one piece of information found in the Northern Ontario Immigration Profile report.

Executive Director of the Labour Market Group Stacie Fiddler says their report shows Nipissing and Parry Sound are following that trend with the rest of the region with difficulties in recruiting immigrants to northern communities.

She says their data shows more work needs to be done as there hasn’t been much change in recent years.

She says changes have been slight over the years and there hasn’t been a peak or a major decline over the years.

Fiddler says in Nipissing and Parry Sound is in a similar trend with the rest of the region with low immigration numbers.

She says the data shows more work needs to be done in regards to recruitment.

Fiddler says the data in the report allows them to understand the demographics and retention of immigrants to northern Ontario.
