kantnerGuitarist and vocalist Paul Kantner, best known for co-founding the psychedelic rock band Jefferson Airplane and its spinoff band Jefferson Starship, has died of multiple organ failure. He was 74. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Kantner passed away on Thursday after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week. The musician also suffered a heart attack in March 2015. The official Facebook page for The Doors has since shared a note in Kantner’s honor that reads, “Our condolences go out to the friends, family and fans of Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane on the news of his passing.” Kantner and Airplane lead singer Grace Slick had a daughter in 1971. Kantner is survived by that daughter, China and his other children Gareth and Alexander. Jefferson Airplane are best known for their hits “White Rabbit”, “Somebody To Love” and “Volunteers”.
