Capital planning underway at Near North Board

The Near North District School Board has started work on a new capital planning process, which includes the board reaching out to municipalities and community groups to explore partnerships.

The plan will be shared with stakeholders in June.

Meantime, officials say they’re working with the city to review the potential for students at the new elementary school on the former Pinewood site to use a small area of parkland next to the school.

The board says there’s no consideration of the sale or transfer of parkland.

The idea is to expand park uses to include an open green play space and development of a community-accessible playground.
