(Photos submitted) Host Canadore has won the consolation final at the OCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship.

The Panthers defeated Trent 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in front of packed Canadore gym.

The win marks the highest finish for women’s volleyball for Canadore.

The turning point was Canadore‘s 9 point comeback in the second to take a 2-0 lead and control of the game.

We’re used to playing down. So when they’re down it’s almost as if they perform better. We also managed to play well with the lead in the fourth and finished strong,” said Canadore head coach Stefanie Leblanc.

Caitlin Hebert led the Panther attack with 20 kills.

She credits a team effort for the ferocious comeback in the second set. “It’s definitely a mental game at that point. We have drills we do during the season and we have proven ourselves before that we can comeback from bigger deficits. At that point we reenergized ourselves and said ‘Let’s go!’

Humber won gold with a 3-0 win over Niagara in the Championship final.

Fanshawe won the bronze medal with a 3-2 win over Durham.
