Team PictureNine North Bay Antoine Ski Racers are heading to Sault Ste. Marie this weekend to take part in the U10-U12 Northern Ontario Division Championships.

They’re competing in panel slalom and Giant Slalom.

Meantime, three U16 athletes are going to the provincials in Collingwood next week and will compete in Super G, Giant Slalom, and Slalom.

The team recently sent 5 athletes to the Boreal Cup in Timmins where they competed against teams from Elliot Lake, Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins, Sudbury, as well as teams from Quebec.

On Saturday the team participated in the Slalom event with Joel Gagne placing 6th in the U16 category, with Steve Forget placing 3rd and Maxwell Hong placing 6th in the U14 category.

On Sunday the focused switched to Giant Slalom with Joel Gagne placing 1st and teammate Cameron Gray placing 3rd in the U16 category.

In the U14 category, Steve Forget placed 5th and Maxwell Hong placed 12th.

On the ladies side, Mikayla Cornthwaite placed 1st in GS.

Also, Sunday the Northern Ontario District announced the overall awards for the season.

This year the North Bay Antoine Ski Racers had the top U18 athlete on the ladies side, Dagmar D’Agostino.

The U16 males, Joel Gagne placed 2nd and Cameron Gray placed 3rd Steve Forget placed 3rd in U14 males and Mikayla Cornthwaite was the top U12 female athlete.

The team also sent 2 racers to the Ski Cross Provincials in Beaver Valley.

Colton Eggert placed 4th in the U16 category while teammate Hunter Greig placed 3rd in the U14 category.
