According to The Hollywood Reporter, news of Martin’s death was revealed via a tweet from Ringo Starr last night, which read, “God bless George Martin peace and love to Judy and his family love Ringo and Barbara George will be missed.” Credited for giving The Beatles their first recording contract in 1962, Martin also produced almost all of the band’s songs. The producer, executive, arranger, musician, and British knight was also behind a whopping 23 #1 singles in the U.S. and 30 in the U.K.
