Ed Snider FlyersA tough day for Philadelphia Flyers fans everywhere as the organization said goodbye to the only owner they’ve ever had Ed Snider.

At a ceremony yesterday (Thursday) in Philadelphia, Snider was remembered as a hands-on owner, who was very close to his players.

One of those players was Callander’s Bill Barber.

He says he met Snider in the early 70’s after signing his first NHL contract with the Flyers and win or lose he was always there for his players.

Barber says Snider was a great family man and a dear friend that he will truly miss.

The current Flyers as well as former players were in attendance at yesterday’s service along with the the NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

Snider passed away April 11th after a two-year battle with cancer.

He was 83.

The Flyers are in Washington tonight (Friday) and need a win to keep their season, alive as they trail the Capitals 3 games to 1.
