Many are questioning the decision of Cincinnati Zoo officials to shoot a 400-pound male gorilla, after a four-year-old boy fell into the gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo on Sunday. The boy was grabbed by the 400-pound gorilla, but the gorilla did not harm him. Zoo officials fearing for the child’s safety, sent in a special animal response team that shot and killed the gorilla. The boy’s family says they’re grateful to the staff for saving his life, but are saddened by the death of the endangered western lowland gorilla. The boy has since been released from hospital.
