Sad news came Tuesday when we learned of the passing of Barry Green.  Barry lost his battle with cancer at the age of 69.  Barry was probably best known for running the Records On Wheels store on Main street in North Bay for many years.  He was also a talented musician who played keyboards in bands like Fluid Drive and The Trout Lake Monsters.  Barry Green was also known for his work with Big Brothers in our community.

Ted Chase joined us this week to pay tribute to Barry Green and share his memories of his friend and fellow musician.  The two played together in Fluid Drive.

Ted told us that a celebration of life for Barry Green is planned for the new year with details to come.

You can hear the full interview below.

PLAY FOR ME

(Music by Barry Green, Lyrics by Ted Chase)
The room is deathly quiet as I pick up my guitar
I stare at your piano, and I wonder where you are
And I struggle for the chords but I can’t seem to set them free…
Oh my friend, I wish that you would play for me
Woh oh ohhh
You’ve always been the quiet one, but when you sit and play
Oh the magic in your fingers shows how much you have to say
And you feel it all so clearly when I’m just too blind to see…
Oh my friend, I need you now to play for me
Woh oh ohhh
Won’t you play for me?
Yeah yah yah
Maybe just this once I could do it by myself
Put it all together without asking for your help
But I know that in a minute
You could put so much more in it
You could make my simple song a symphony…
And the room returns to silence as I put down my guitar
I sit at your piano, and I wonder who you are
Oh I want to know you better, and your music is the key…
Yes my friend, come on in and play for me
Woh oh ohhh woh ohhh
Yes my friend, come on in and play for me
Yes my friend, come on in and play for me
Yes my friend, I love it when you play for me
