Spring is in the air and North Bay Police are out with a couple reminders, including the noise bylaw.

Police say excessive noise can include several things like squealing tires, loud music, persistent yelling and persistent dog barking.

Fines range anywhere from $200 to $5,000.

Police also say with the warmer weather more kids are outside playing and riding bikes and motorists need to be watching their surroundings.

They say drivers should slow down, be aware of your surroundings and be prepared to stop for pedestrians and cyclists.

Meantime, North Bay Police say sidewalks are for pedestrians and for drivers of mobility scooters, power wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs.

The same applies on the bike paths.

However, e-bikes and recreational scooters are not allowed on sidewalks.

In those cases, police say you must ride on the right side of the road with the flow of traffic, obey all traffic signs and lights and are allowed on bike paths if you’re in pedal-mode only.

Police say removing the pedals from an e-bike or a scooter makes the vehicle illegal.
