The North Bay-Parry Sound District health Unit says it has been notified by National Defense about results of water testing.

The release says two private drinking water wells in the vicinity of CFB North Bay have detectable levels of PFAS that exceed health Canada’s drinking water screening values.

The release says affected homeowners have been notified and they’ve been advised to not drink the water or use it for cooking.

The health unit says DND has supplied the homeowners with water until a long term solution can be found and additional testing will take place.

As well, the level in Lee’s Creek is above acceptable levels and residents shouldn’t drink water from the creek.

The health unit says it is working with DND, the city and the Ministry of the Environment to remove the contamination to ensure everyone that their drinking water is safe.
