The North Bay Battalion have a big challenge Thursday  as they host the number 2 ranked team in the country. The Sarnia Sting will be here and coach Stan Butler says they’re strong in several areas.

“They’re an extremely fast team, they have highly skilled forwards and they have a good goalie. They’ve won 8 games in a row and anytime in this league you win 8 games in a row you know you’re a really good team.”
The Sting are 9-1 on the year while the Troops are 3-4-2 and haven’t won in their last six games. Kyle Potts won’t play Thursday as he will be serving the final game of a 4 game suspension. Butler says he thinks Brett McKenzie will be playing tonight after missing the last couple of games.

Butler says both of his goalies Julian Sime and Matt Woronuik want to improve.

“Both of them are aware of their statistics and I’m sure both of them would like to have much better statistics. And I think they realize they only have 1 way to go and that’s up and I’m sure they’ll work extremely hard to become better.”

Sime has a goals against average of 3.80 in 7 appearances while Woronuik has a GAA of 3.99 in 4 games, North Bay hasn’t won since they beat Sudbury on September 27th.

Broadcast time is 6:55 on Country 600 CKAT.

The Troops will be in Mississauga on Friday and host Kingston on Sunday at 2 pm.
