Mattawa OPP have issued a ticket to a 19 year old Quebec motorist for failing to stop for school bus.

Police say on Tuesday afternoon, a vehicle was seen on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township travelling at a high rate of speed.

Police say the vehicle in question passed several vehicles behind the school bus and then passed the school bus itself which had stopped and had its overhead red lights activated.

Police say you must stop for a school bus when approaching from the rear when the school bus is stopped and has its red signal flashing.

Infact, you must be behind the bus by atleast 20 metres and you can’t proceed unless the bus moves or the red lights stop flashing.

If you don’t you can face a $490 fine and 6 demerit points.
