Team Canada, including North Bay’s Colton Point, won gold at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo.

The Canadians scored a 3-1 win over Sweden in the championship game, with the winning goal coming off the stick of Tyler Steenbergen with less than two minutes left in the third period.

Point backed up starting goalie Carter Hart, who made 35 saves and earned the win in Canada’s net.

Captain Dillon Dube also scored for Canada, while Alex Formenton added an empty-net goal.
