East Ferris will see a new mayor voted in this fall.

Bill Vrebosch, who has been Mayor, Reeve and Deputy Reeve of East Ferris since 1978, has announced he’s running for a councillor seat in North Bay.

“A lot of times people came to me and said, ‘Bill we need you to come in as mayor’. I said you know what guys, I can do just as much on council, I can be very effective as a good councillor,” he tells BayToday. “I can bring some decorum to council and not allow this foolishness that goes on, in-fighting, leave your ego at the door when you come into a council meeting.”

Vrebosch also tells BayToday he’s not ruling out a possible run for mayor.

But he also points out he’s coming in from East Ferris.

“I can’t pretend to know everything that’s happening in North Bay and when I first ran for Mayor of East Ferris, I sat on the planning board for two years and learned what the job was,” he says.

Vrebosch’s daughter, incumbent city councillor Tanya Vrebosch, also announced she’s seeking re-election.

The filing deadline for nomination papers is July 27th.

Municipal election day is October 22nd.
