There were no injuries after city fire crews were called to a fire at a home on Barber Avenue early this morning (Wednesday).

That’s the word from Platoon Chief Greg Kraft.

“There’s no injuries, the occupants had evacuated,” he says.

Crews were dispatched to the fire just after 4 am.

“It appears to be a chimney fire that spread into the roof area,” says Kraft.

There’s no estimate on damage, but there is a hole in the roof.

“We have to work from the interior, tear down the ceiling and walls,” he adds.

Crews had snuffed out the blaze and were looking for extension of the fire by 5 am.
