Nipissing MPP and Minister of Finance Vic Fedeli says the government is in the process of selling 243 surplus government properties across the province including one on Chippewa Street.

He says it used to house the OPP but hasn’t been used in years.

He says selling these properties will help the governments bottom line.

“That means 100 million we don’t have to borrow. That means 100 million that comes off our balance sheet. Think of the millions in operating and maintenance costs that we’re going to be saving in the next decades as well, ” Fedeli says.

He says another benefit is that someone will be able to use the building.

“Hopefully have employees here. They’ll be able to pay taxes to the municipality and put people to work too,” he says.

Fedeli says money accrued from the sales will be put to the governments bottom line.
