An overnight shift in strong winds has prompted Nipissing First Nation to put out the call for more volunteers for sand bagging efforts on Jocko Point.

Officials say high waves pounded the shoreline and breached sandbag walls at several properties.

They say the road is still intact, but the damage to some homes is devastating.

The flood warning is in effect until next Wednesday.

It was first put in place about a month ago (April 18th).

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority says water levels on Lake Nipissing are expected to continue to rise daily for the next one or two weeks while levels are extremely high in Mattawa.

The evacuation centre in Mattawa closed a couple days ago, but can be re-opened if needed.

Several roads are closed. Details can be found at mattawa.ca

Here in North Bay, city officials are asking boaters to be cautious and mindful of creating any wake.

West Nipissing officials say boat launches there are closed, as are several roads. The list is posted online at westnipissing.ca
