Seven film and television productions in the North Bay area are getting seven million dollars in provincial funding.

MPP Vic Fedeli announced the money this morning on the set of a movie at the North Bay Mall.

He says the industry locally has grown and continues to boost our economy

“The amount of men and women who are working including carpenters behind the scenes and people behind the camera. It employs hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds every single week. Right now, we have four productions underway,” he says.

The funding will also develop local talent and support other businesses in Nipissing.

David Anselmo is President of Production at Hideaway Pictures, one of the funding recipients.

He says it’s taken a decade a while to build the film and tv industry in North Bay area and there’s no one specific reason for that.

“It’s a combination of last ten years of building a reputation. It’s getting qualified crew members here, pristine locations and developing the infrastructure support,” Anselmo says.

– $3 million to Sienna Films Inc. to produce the television series The Trickster.
– $1.3 million to Peacock Alley Entertainment to produce the television series New Eden.
– $908,360 to Tanner Beach Productions to produce the television series Sunshine Sketches Homecoming.
