Battalion make a trade

For the 2nd time this week the North Bay Battalion have made a trade.

After dealing forward Matthew Struthers to Owen Sound for picks on Monday they’ve acquired Chad Denault from Peterborough for a conditional 15th-round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.

Denault is from Iroquois Falls and loves the hard working gritty style of the Troops.

“I know coming here to play was never something we looked forward to because of the gritty and hard working game the Battalion play. That’s my style of play growing up in the north and I’m excited for that,” he says.

Coach Stan Butler says it’s important to have some experience up front.

“He’s a physical player and give some of our guys a sense of confidence. Hopefully, for him with more of an opportunity he can reach his potential,” Butler says.

Denault was drafted in the 2016 OHL priority selection in the 3rd round by the Petes. Butler says he’s a solid candidate to be one of the team’s overage players next season.

Denault has two goals and six points in 23 games this season.

Former North Bay Battalion forward Mathew Santos will be playing two games against Team Canada’s world junior hopefuls.

The games between the USports All Stars and those invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection camp will be held on December 11th and 12th in Oakville.

Santos has 21 points in 17 games for Ryerson in the OUA this season.
