North Bay City Council is looking at a rezoning change which would pave the way for a new industrial sub division in North Bay.

No decisions have been made yet by council but the item remains on the Community Services Committee file.

Chair Johanne Brousseau says the proposal would involve the extension of Legault Street.

“There are 12 lots and 4 blocked areas that would be developed. There are 45 acres of land,” she says.

Brousseau says part of the land would be unused for development and would be for environmental purposes only.

She says staff will be submitting a report as there are traffic and noise concerns from the community should the development move forward.

Brousseau was asked if she supports the rezoning.

“As long as the concerns are addressed I believe it is our mandate to grow. It allows another area of town to host industrial construction,” she says.
