The North Bay Battalion have added three more prospects in the Under-18 priority selection.

They selected left winger Kevin Henstock of the Oakville Rangers midgets first overall.

GM Adam Dennis tells BayToday Henstock has a good chance to come in and compete for spot in September.

“Kevin’s a guy that’s a highly skilled player, he can find the net as good as anybody at the midget level, he skates very well and he likes to get engaged physically,” Dennis says.

North Bay also selected goaltender Wade Monague of the North Central Predators in the second round.

“(Monague) has played in those big moments, got a lot of rubber this year and he’s a big kid that’s athletic and I think there’s a lot of potential,” Dennis tells BayToday

The Troops also selected defenceman Alex Little of the North Bay Trappers in the third round.

Dennis says they got a good look at Little this past season.

“He’s very versatile, he can do a lot of things, he can play on the left side, the right side, a very responsible young man, we got to know him quite well this season,” he says.

Meantime, Troops forward Brandon Coe (pictured) is up 12 spots in the NHL Central Scouting final rankings of North American Skaters ahead of this year’s draft.

He’s now 35th.

In 60 games with the Battalion this season, Coe scored 25 goals and 32 assists.

The 2020 NHL Draft, which was originally scheduled for June 26-27 in Montreal, has been postponed due to the ongoing uncertainty resulting from COVID-19.

Officials say the location, timing and format of the 2020 NHL Draft (and Draft Lottery) will be announced when details are finalized.
