Florian Schneider, co-founder of revolutionary German electronic group Kraftwerk has passed away after a short battle with cancer.

“Kraftwerk co-founder and electro pioneer Ralf Hütter has sent us the very sad news that his friend and companion over many decades Florian Schneider has passed away from a short cancer disease just a few days after his 73rd birthday,” according to a statement by Rolling Stone.

Kraftwerk recently announced a summer reunion tour with Schneider who left the group back in 2008. Unfortunately, the 50th Anniversary North America tour had to be postponed due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.

Schneider’s talents spawned 10 studio albums over four decades. The multi-instrumentalist who played everything from synthesizer, vocoder, flute, sax, and more will be sorely missed.
