A few changes on North Bay Transit and para buses starting tomorrow (Mon).

Chair of Infrastructure and Operations Councillor Chris Mayne says bus drivers will be collecting fares again.

He says plexiglass barriers have been installed.

“Both doors will open for riders now. We’re not requiring that masks be worn. It’s still being recommend that if you have access to a mask use it. We will review ridership numbers each week to assess demand,” he says.

He says drivers won’t have to touch cash or riders as they board and get off.

“It’s as safe and comfortable to operate and ride as it can be at this time,” Mayne says.

The province is recommending for passengers to use a facecovering on public transit and there will be a limit of 15 riders per bus to ensure sufficient space for physical distancing.

Officials ask when paying with a single trip pass or a 10-trip pass, please display the pass to the operator and follow the instructions of the bus operator and the signs posted on the bus.

March monthly passes will be accepted for this month only and regular June monthly passes will be sold at the transit terminal.
