At least two local school boards staggering entry to start the school year

At least two local school boards are going with staggered entry for their students to start the new school year.

No students are heading back to class on what was supposed to be the first day of school, September 8th.

At the Near North Board, different schools have different scenarios, with grades being staggered over three days from Wednesday September 9th through Friday, September 11th.

The French public board is staggering entry over Thursday, September 10th and Friday, September 11th.

For Wednesday Sept. 9th
K-6 School: SK-2
K-8 School: SK-2
7-12 School: 7/8
9-12 School: 9

For Thurs. Sept. 10th
K-6 School: 3/4
K-8 School: 3/4/5
7-12 School: 9/10
9-12 School  10

For Fri. Sept. 11th
K-6 School: 5/6
K-8 School: 6/7/8
7-12 School: 11/12
9-12 School 11/12

Near North Board Schools have the option to stagger JK re-entry with all students in attendance by Tues. Sept 15.

Tuesday September 8 and Wednesday September 9, 2020:
School visit – by appointment only – for students with special needs and new students.
Staff members will ensure communication with parents / guardians of each student in their class to facilitate the transition to the first day of school.

Thursday, September 10, 2020:
School day for students from 1st to 3rd year.
School day for students in the 7th year for Odyssée.
School day for students in the 9th year of secondary schools.

Friday, September 11, 2020:
School day for students in the 4th to the 6th year for Héritage.
School day for students in the 4th to the 8th year of elementary schools.
School day for students in the 9th to the 12th year for West Nipissing Public secondary school.
School day for students in the 7th to the 12th year for Odyssée.

Monday, September 13, 2020:
End of the staggered start. All the students are in school.
For kindergarten students, a schedule will be provided by the school regarding the specific details of their staggered start.
