The legendary Downchild Blues Band will kick off the Capitol Centre Bluesfest this Thursday night and Downchild leader and co-founder Donnie Walsh will be inducted into the North Bay Musicians & Entertainers Hall of Recognition on stage that night!  A pandemic got in the way of the band’s initial plan to visit North Bay, but Downchild’s 50th Anniversary Tour finally hits the Bay this week and fans are excited.  There are just a few tickets left for the show at www.capitolcentre.org.

This past week I caught up with the man who plays guitar and harmonica and writes the songs for Downchild.  I asked him about growing up in Ferris, fishing Lake Nipissing as a boy and what it feels like to celebrate over 50 years of making music and a chance to be celebrated by the city he grew up in.

Check out the clips from our interview.
