The two leading baseball groups in the city, the North Bay Baseball Association and the Men’s Senior Baseball League are upset with the city.

Dave Saad of the North Bay Baseball Association says at the heart of the issue is the city’s decision to convert the baseball field at the Omischl Complex to softball putting all the baseball at Veterans Field which is currently undergoing renovation.

He told BayToday there’s no agreement in place right now between the user groups and the city for next season.

“Who develops a facility and a partnership and starts the construction when the agreement hasn’t been presented to the other partners in the overall development,” he asks.

Saad says another concern is the high school season and with all games at 1 location it’s going to be difficult to develop players from rookie ball to senior men’s.

He says the city is asking the North Bay Baseball community to support the Veterans Field renovation.

“We don’t see that as a big challenge to generate $75,000 over the next 10 years and we’re more than happy to do it. But we’re not going to pay $75,000 to end up in a lesser position than what we’re in today,” Saad says.
Adam Campbell of the Men’s Senior Baseball League says the two organizations are working together fro the benefit of the sport in the community.

Mark King, the City of North Bay’s Community Services Chair says it is unfortunate that they were unable to come to an agreement with the North Bay Baseball Association and the Senior Men’s Baseball League at this time with respect to the upgrades to the baseball field at Veterans Field.
