North Bay Police have arrested two young people from the North Bay area as a result of an assault complaint.

Police say someone received a message via a social media app that included a video of a handgun and verbal threat.

Police say last Friday, those charged attended an area near where the victim goes to school.

Police say there was an altercation and charges have been laid.

One of the people was charged with assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and the other with uttering threats and possessing cannabis as the person charged is under 19.

Police say they seized a pellet pistol and a small amount of cannabis at Widdifield Secondary School.

Police have confirmed the pellet pistol was the same one in the video.

No names have been released due to the age of those charged per the Canada Youth Criminal Justice Act.
