Beastie Boys documentary film to debut on Apple TV and Imax this April.

Apple TV Plus has landed the rights to a new Beastie Boys documentary, by legendary producer Spike Jonze. The Academy Award winning producers relationship with the group dates back to the 90’s when he directed video’s for Beastie hits, “Sure Shot” and “Sabotage.”

Beastie Boys Story promises to take an in-depth look at the groups rise to fame. The “live” documentary outlines the career and 40-year friendship of surviving members, Adam Horovitz (aka Ad Rock) and Mike Diamond (aka Mike D). Additionally, the doc will pay tribute to late member, Adam Yauch (aka MCA), who lost his battle with throat cancer in 2012.

Beastie Boys Story hits Imax theaters, April 3 and will be available for streaming on Apple TV Plus, April 24.
