Canadore facilityCommunity Colleges in the province are calling on the Ontario government for action.

The colleges want the government to make up front investments of $30-million.

The money would pay for market research so industry clusters could be promoted. Canadore president George Burton says colleges play a key role in research to help businesses innovate and a commitment to enhance innovation by the government should be a priority in the upcoming provincial budget.

The colleges say it is well recognized that Ontario has a poor innovation record compared to other jurisdictions around the world.

The colleges say the feds have upped their funding and now it’s time for the province to do the same.
