All three major provincial political party leaders will be in North Bay this week.

Premier Kathleen Wynne, PC leader Patrick Brown and NDP leader Andrea Horwath will be here for the annual Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities Conference.

The event goes at Nipissing University today (Wednesday) through Friday.

FONOM president Al Spacek says this event is always well attended by municipal leaders in the north and it’s a great opportunity for the key politicians to get messages out.

“Delegates are looking to hear from political leaders, what their constituents are, which is how to deal with rising costs, whether they’re municipal taxes or energy prices,” he says.

The premier will be speaking Thursday afternoon.

The key note address will be delivered today by Steve Paikin of TVO’s The Agenda.

Spacek says there’s also a ministers forum on Friday with several provincial cabinet taking part including the Ministers of Municipal Affairs, Infrastructure and Energy.

He says there will be a presentation on best practices for municipalities and one by the Ministry of Community and Social Services on the District Social Services Administration Review act, which is top of mind for many municipalities.

There will also be sessions on the northern Ontario film industry, Indigenous relations, broadband and affordable housing.
