Changes coming to lab services at North Bay Regional Health Centre

The North Bay Regional Health Centre has announced changes to their full lab services.

In a release they say the services will be provided to patients who are receiving direct care and visiting associated clinics.

This means the lab will no longer draw blood or collect specimens for outpatients for tests that are not performed on site.The services will continue to be provided to patients who are receiving care such as Chemo, Antenatal, and Pre-admission Clinic.

An estimated 25% of the hospitals outpatients are expected to be impacted by this change.

The release adds unlike community lab tests, the hospital does not receive funding for specific tests.
