Anthony RotaIt’s back to work in Ottawa for MP’s including Nipissing-Temiskaming’s Anthony Rota.

After a short session in December, the House of Commons returns today.

Rota says this session will be about economic action by the new government.

The government is on record as supporting infrastructure projects early in the year.

What is going to be interesting is the timing on whether those announcements are made before or after the budget.

Meantime, Rota says the big issue locally is the economy.

He says he’s hearing the economy has suffered for the last decade and it’s time to change that.

Rota says he’s been busy consulting with workers and community councils to get their sense of what’s needed.

He says the budget is going to be a challenge and it will take a lot of hard work as they will need to rehabilitate the Canadian economy.

Meantime, Rota has been appointed assistant deputy speaker.

He says the government wants to reduce the amount of heckling during debates.
