Local sports historian Peter Handley has penned a 2nd book dedicated to the heroes that are in the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame.

Unlike the first book which listed the accomplishments of many athletes and teams this one highlights complete stories of important sporting accomplishments.

The stories include the history of the North Bay Centennials, The North Bay Canoe Club and Kenny Wharram.

Handley says he was able to provide indepth information on the subjects.

“Those stories have not been put in a solid form that tells the whole story of something and I think that’s important. We lack that on the sports side of it.”

He says although these are sports stories they reveal a lot about the community too.

“Whether it’s a sports story, a political story, a business story it’s part of the warp and woof of the city of North Bay. We tell our political stories maybe and some others but we don’t tell complete sports stories.”
The book is entitled Flashbacks and is available at a cost of $25 at several locations including Gulliver’s, Memorial Gardens, at North Bay City Hall and the Discovery North Bay Museum.

He says all funds go to the hall of fame.

The editor for the book is Brent Pigott and a foreword was written by Colin Vezina.
